Hi Peter,
On page 65 to 66 of Vol. 30 "Copper Ores of the Midlands, Wales, the Lake
District and Isle of Man" - Special Reports on the Mineral Resources of
Great Britain, 1921.(as reprinted by Dickie Bird) there is a description of
the process then employed at Coniston. This includes an oil flotation plant.
This was used largely for reworking tips.
This is the only reference in the Memoir that I can see that mentions
production as taking place after 1880.
Cheers, Dave

Subject: Copper Concentration in England
I am working on the first draft of the Copper section of the NAMHO Research
framework for the Archaeology of Extractive Industries in England, for
English Heritage. Thinking specifically about copper concentration, I would
like to know whether there were any flotation plants built primarily for
copper ores in England?
