Dear Colleagues
There was quite a lot of discussion at the Oxford conference about the International Journal of Therapeutic Communities 31/2, particularly regarding George De Leon's article summarising the US evidence. This issue of the journal - the Evidence Issue - was edited by George, Rod Mullen, Naya Arbiter and myself as a concious attempt to pull together the current evidence into a single volume - particularly concentrating upon area where TCs are consistently criticised, such as retention, cost etc.
At the conference I promised that I would add a complete copy of the journal to the Scottish Addiction Studies online library. This I did shortly after I returned to Scotland but I can't remember (senior moment here) whether I informed you all of this. Anyway, I did and you can download a copy (plus copies of the earlier addiction special issues) by logging on to the SAS online library at:
http://www.drugslibrary.stir.ac.uk/
To access the journal, simply type "ijtc" into the search engine window in the blue menu bar on the left-hand side.
Happy reading - remember membership of the EFTC actually includes a subscription to the quarterly journal.
