1 IN 6 THERAPISTS MAKE SUBSTANCE USE PROBLEMS WORSE
1 in 6 therapists typically ended up with clients whose substance use problems were significantly
worse than when they started therapy, the highest proportion among the 12 symptom domains assessed
by this large-scale US survey. The findings have far-reaching implications for the training and
monitoring of counsellors and therapists.
