Salary: Grade 7 - £28,251 to £35,778 per annum pro-rata, with potential
to progress to £39,107

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Research Associate to join the
Department of Sociological Studies and make a
significant contribution to the SMART project.
The successful applicant will work on a research project recently funded
by the European Commission under the Seventh
Framework Programme (FP7): Scalable Measures for Automated Recognition
Technologies (SMART). This project will
evaluate the use of 'intelligent' surveillance systems, and consider the
social, ethical and legal implications of their increased
deployment.
The post holder will be the first point of contact, liaise with project
partners, set up processes and procedures to enable the
project to develop and be responsible for the day-to-day management of
the project under the guidance of the Principal
Investigator. You will a hold a PhD, or be close to completing, within a
relevant Social Science Discipline along with a relevant
Masters level qualification (or equivalent experience / qualifications
for either).
This post is fixed-term and available immediately until 30 June 2013,
working a 50% commitment.
