Creating New Economic Paradigms:
The Role of Development Education
The Centre for Global Education is currently inviting the submission of articles for the next issue of its bi-annual journal Policy & Practice: A Development Education Review on the theme ‘Creating New Economic Paradigms: The Role of Development Education’. This theme will discuss how development education can respond to the current global financial crisis particularly in engendering debate on alternative models of economic development. This issue will consider the current financial upheaval in local and international contexts reflecting on the distinctive role that development education can play in debating new paradigms of economic development based on the sector’s knowledge and experience of the global South and educational practice in the global North. Can we apply development education’s skills, values, knowledge and activism to the economic crisis and propose meaningful steps that could contribute to a more sustainable and just economic model both locally and globally? Contributions to this debate are welcomed as part of Issue 14 of Policy and Practice.
The Centre for Global Education will also accept a limited number of articles not related to the theme that will contribute to wider understanding of development education policy and practice.

Issue 15: An Open Call for Contributors
For Issue 15 of the journal, the Centre has decided to make this edition an ‘Open Call’ for contributors without any specific theme. If you are interested in submitting an article for this issue we require a short précis of 300-500 words by 25 May. The deadline for articles is 31 August 2012.
There are three kinds of articles published in Policy and Practice. Focus articles are peer reviewed, between 2,500 and 5,000 words, and should have a strong critical analysis of their topic. The second is a shorter Perspectives article between 1,500 and 2,500 words which tends to be more descriptive and focusing on an aspect of practice. We also publish Viewpoint articles which are designed to provoke debate on a given topic and are more subjective in the presentation of their argument. These articles are between 800 and 1,600 words in length.
Authors interested in submitting an article should send a synopsis of their article of no more than 300 words to [log in to unmask] For more information on the journal and to access the full archive of issues visit http://www.developmenteducationreview.com If you wish to discuss an idea for an article phone Stephen at (44) (0) 2890241879.
