May I ask representatives of JISC (or any other academic institution) to kindly specify at the beginning of any new call if funding initiatives are open to independent scholars, businesses, private investigators or not.
The space for research is increasingly dominated by demand of entrepreneurship, volunteering, open access to research findings and 'big society' themes and values. More transparency about requirements and assessment criteria to have a chance would be useful too.
