Hi Jacqui
I always try to answer any queries of this nature,
1 - it is up to the individual to make the complaint not the manager and
2 - we are best placed to offer accurate and useful advice with a full
assessment of the individual, not just on a condition specific basis, after
all every individual is different and likewise their lifestyle and responses
to any condition/treatment will vary as will their employment.
We assess all individuals as a whole then offer best informed advice.

Subject: [OCC-HEALTH] advice please
Morning, looking for some robust statements and help in writing a response
to a complaint I received last week regarding my taking of a medical
history.
Short version, lady recently had bowel surgery for cancer currently having
chemo , working between treatment and as she perceives not requiring any
additional support,. Her line manager has complained that I asked personal
questions, when where and what regarding her surgery, what medication she
was on, was she having any difficulties with toilet habits, was she married,
good family support etc, felt it was invasive questioning !! I have to
provide HR with a response, short answer I was doing my job but please
jiscmail give me some polite responses to stop HR even feeling they need to
respond to this sort of complaint.
