Hello folks,
I'm writing as I've been in talks with Fry IT (http://www.fry-it.com/)
to provide deployments of Molly to other Universities.
If you're unaware of Molly (http://mollyproject.org), it's the open
source framework we at Oxford built to create Mobile Oxford
(http://m.ox.ac.uk). It provides a range of features out of the box
and more importantly a sustainable option to further develop a
University's mobile strategy in the future.
Some unique features
* Multilingual
* No vendor lock-in
* It's open source, so develop what you want (and hopefully share with
other universities)!
* Many prebuilt providers out of the box to help get a deployment
running quickly
* Supports any web-capable device (even monochrome screens like Kindles)
* Android and iOS native apps are being developed
* Full RESTful API for every part of it
* Powerful data aggregator, allowing new and novel uses of disparate
University data.
* Powerful public transport information integration.
* Tested for accessibility on screen readers
* Award winning (UCISA Award for Excellence, nominated for several others)
* much more...
We're hoping to work with Fry to help provide this software as a
turnkey solution to other Universities in the very near future. Of
course with it being open source, we expect that pricing would be well
below current commercial competitors and a more sustainable, lower
risk option.
If you're interested, or would like more information please do drop me
a short note.
Cheers,
Tim
