Senior Research Lead for Health Policy
Primary Care Health Sciences, 28-36 Hythe Bridge Street, Oxford
Grade 9: £42,733 - £49,539 p.a.
An exciting new opportunity has been created for an outstanding researcher to share management responsibility, with the senior team, for setting the goals and managing the resources, performance and development of the Health Experiences Research Group (HERG).
The Health Experiences Research Group collects qualitative interview studies which are published on the healthtalkonline.org<http://www.healthtalkonline.org/> and youthhealthtalk<http://www.youthhealthtalk.org/> websites, as well as in clinical and social science journals. The multimedia website links analysis and hundreds of video, audio and written extracts from interviews about people’s experiences of health and illness. The Health Experiences research group in the University collaborate closely with the DIPEx charity, which owns the website.
The new post will be the group’s lead for Health Policy and have a significant role in strategic planning, play a leading role in networks, and contribute to collaborative decisions. The post will also be the lead researcher for an NIHR Service Delivery and Organisation grant: ‘Informing the development of NICE Quality Standards through secondary analysis of qualitative narrative interviews on patients’ experiences’. It is expected that the role will initially be split 50/50 between these two commitments.
You will have a PhD in a social science (or equivalent experience) a strong publication record; a national reputation for research and expertise in knowledge transfer to health policy. You will also have a strong record of attracting research funding and leading and managing projects.
The post is funded at 80% of full-time equivalent for 2 years or full-time with a pro rata reduction in contract length.
