Elsevier and Ex Libris Collaborate to Present bXRecommendations in Scopus and Science Direct
ThebX application will enable researchers to view article recommendations throughthe Elsevier SciVerse platform
Jerusalem, Israel—October 26, 2011. Ex Libris® Group is pleased to announcethat following an agreement with Elsevier, a bX article recommender applicationwill now be available to mutual customers for integration in the SciVerseinterface. The application will enable Scopus and ScienceDirect users to see bXrecommendations—suggestions for further reading, generated from researchers’usage data—along with articles that the users find in the Scopus andScienceDirect databases.
Elsevier SciVerse Scopus is the world’s largestabstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature and quality Websources. Scopus contains 45.5 million records, which are drawn from 5,000publishers worldwide, and 70% of which include abstracts. Elsevier SciVerseScienceDirect is a leading full-text scientific database offering morethan 9.5 million journal articles and book chapters from more than 2,500peer-reviewed journals and more than 11,000 books.
Focused solely on the scholarly domain and used in over 1,000 academicinstitutions, bX is the first service to provide recommendations that aregenerated from researchers’ usage data. The article recommendations are basedon an analysis of hundreds of millions of usage logs contributed by worldwideusers of the Ex Libris SFX® OpenURL link resolver who are bXsubscribers. A cloud-based service, bX can be integrated with SFX and the Primo®discovery and delivery solution. The bX service can be integrated with othersystems via an application programming interface (API).
