Dear all,
The RDF Working Group met last week [1,2] and made progress on
clarifying the typology of "named graphs":
-- The "RDF Graph" of the 2004 RDF Semantics -- a graph in the
mathematical sense, as a set of triples -- is clarified as being
an immutable and abstract "Graph Snapshot" (a name I personally
find more helpful).
-- A "Graph Container" is a concrete and usually mutable entity, such
as a file or database content.
-- An "RDF Serialization" (or "Graph Serialization", a name I personally
find more helpful) is "a textual encoding of an RDF Graph in some sort
of accepted syntax (Turtle, RDF/XML, etc)".
