For some reason, I didn't see John Bibby's original email to this list. As 'list-owner' of the Radstats list, I would like to deny the suggestion that discussion of this subject is not acceptable or welcome on the Radstats list. We had a very good discussion of the problems with the data which John circulated, but more importantly, the political barriers to collecting more reliable data or any relevant good data on this subject.
After that the discussion began to get repetitive and members asked me to close it. I suggested that we close it but resumed it if someone pointed to other sources of data not previously mentioned or discussed. Jonathan Rosenhead, who was away at the time of the original discussion, has now done this, so people are welcome to join the resumed discussion. To see what was discussed before look at our September and October archives at www.jiscmail.ac.uk
As allstat is not a discussion list, I am not going to get into responding to Michael here, but would like to refer people to the discussion we had on Radstats.

It seems that as this discussion is no longer welcome on the Radical Statistics list, John Bibby is trying to move it to this list. This is surely not acceptable. Nor is his invocation of a piece of propaganda as if it were a reliable source. What next? The Protocols of the Elders of Zion?
