I was always under the impression that a marriage was a public ceremony,
and so there should be no reason to withhold access to a marriage
register, surely?
Which leads me on to something which has vexed me for a while. How, if
marriages are supposed to be public, are 'venues' (as opposed to
churches) allowed to refuse access to weddings?
But, perhaps I am completely wrong in my assumption!
