Dear All,
First of all, thank you for all the offers of support received so far.
I had my first "informal" consultation on the proposed re-organisations
on Monday and the nature of the beast has changed! They say (at least
they do now) that the intention is to sub-contract the work and I have
begun to explain why this is a bad idea both from a conflict of interest
point of view, but also that it would in all likelihood cost more.
As with all things of this nature, the lack of information makes things
difficult, but I do at least know that they have not even tried to get
an idea of how much this will cost/save. Unfortunately I'm not aware
that the Council have been officially briefed yet, but I keep asking and
will do until someone answers me!
Thanks,
Hugh

Dear All,
In order to keep everyone in the loop, Balfour Beatty are currently
re-organising their local authority contract here in North East
Lincolnshire and my post and role are intended for deletion - as a one
horse operation that means no archaeological service in North East
Lincolnshire, either DM/DC or HER.
There appears to be an intention for the Conservation Officer to take
over my responsibilities, which they are less than impressed about, so
we have both got a lot of work ahead of us to try and sort out this mess
(hopefully with help from the IFA/ALGAO etc).
