So far, we've been very fortunate not to have any major safety
incidents at BUCNI since we started, although there have been some
minor scares. We largely attribute this success to the fact that we
have a great user community who go out of their way to be safety
conscious and avoid unnecessary risks in the scanner environment. So
first off, we'd like to thank everyone involved for all their efforts
along these lines.
We recently decided that to help maintain this success and stave off
complacency, we will require all "certified users" (that is, any user
at BUCNI) to ensure they've gone through a safety training session in
the last 18 months just to refresh it. Although the information isn't
new, it often helps to make sure it is in the front of everyone's mind
when working in the scanning environment. So if your most recent
safety training occurred before April 2010, please sign up for one of
the next sessions:
3 November (Thurs), 12:30-1:30pm
6 December (Tues), 3-4pm
To sign up, please just email Jeannette Bayliss ([log in to unmask])
with the session you'd like to attend. Come December, anyone who has
not had their safety training updated within the last two years will
have their accounts de-activated until they refresh their training.
Hopefully everyone will agree that 1 hour every 18 months isn't too
much of a time commitment to help maintain a safe scanning community.
Many thanks,
Joe
