The answer lies between one and two years :-) Some licences are retained
expiry plus one year in case a person re-applies. In other cases Audit
likes to retain for expiry plus 2 to check for any fraud

Subject: Licensing Records
Dear All,
Is anyone willing to share their experiences and offer some advice?
I’m currently working with Public Protection Department. We’re trying
to establish exactly what records they need to keep and how long for. I am
interested for how long other Local Authorities keep the drivers' licences
and vehicles licences (private hire and hackney carriage).
Do you tend to keep it for 2 years once the licence expires?
Thank you,
Patrycja
