I am surprised that in his letter of apology they allowed him to just say: "I have learned that some of my arguments may have been flawed and not supported by the available evidence."
His arguments *were* flawed and not supported by the available evidence.
Anyway, it is good that the academic community has succeeded in reining in one of its own.
