What do Gollum, the new London 2012 Olympic stadium and the quest for
sustainable energy have in common? They all involve the work of
engineers. Engineering provides some of the most exciting applications
of maths, which impact on all our lives every day.
To highlight the importance and excitement of engineering, Plus
(http://plus.maths.org), the free online mathematics magazine produced
by the Millennium Mathematics Project at the University of Cambridge, is
running a project called Constructing our Lives. With kind support from
The Royal Academy of Engineering, the project brings you articles and
podcasts on engineering, directly from the engineers themselves.
To access the content visit

We've also created a free A3 poster for schools and libraries. To
request copies please visit http://plus.maths.org/content/Poster and
complete the form.
