I've been meaning to respond but I've been out of the office a lot recently. I'm very impressed by the OER Commons bookmarklet. We've got a sort of working prototype of a bookmarklet, but in fairness what the OER Commons people have done is quite a bit more advanced than our prototype.
There does seem to be a lot of overlap between our bookmarking project and OER Commons, so it would probably be an idea to see if there's any way of collaborating - it makes no sense for our project to be reinventing what is already being done elsewhere.
Thanks
Paul

Subject: Re: OER Commons Bookmarking Button?
Hi Lisa,
Thanks for your very helpful response and apologies for the delay in replying.
I manage OER Commons. The bookmarking tool should be functional in Chrome, though there is currently a bug that doesn't pull up the bookmark button's "Add OER" title so you'll just see a globe icon. That should be fixed before tomorrow. It works appropriately in Firefox and is not yet compatible with IE.
Ah yes, I see what you mean. The tool appears to work in Chrome now, though the "Add OER" text still doesn't appear. I've noticed several other tool bar widgets behaving oddly or not at all in Chrome, so it seems like there are some common problems.
We've been getting a fair amount of use from the tool and would love any feedback from the community and ideas for collaboration around the tool.
That's great that the tool has already attracted some attention. We can certainly encourage folk here in the UK and those working on the JISC UKOER projects to try it out. Also you might find it useful to contact Paul Horner [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> who is running the JISC CETIS funded OER Bookmarking mini project to see if there's any over lap between the two initiatives. You can read more about the project here https://learning-maps.ncl.ac.uk/oer/
We haven't posted any tool-specific documentation yet, though we have demo'd it at some webinars and mentioned it recently in a blog<http://iskme.org/our-ideas/oer-commons-education-ecosystem-using-knowledge-sharing> . Are you looking for technical documentation or documentation for users?
Either would be of interest!
All the best
Lorna

Hi there,
Is there anyone from OER Commons on this list? I'm interested in the new OER Bookmarking button that allows you to contribute OER content via your browser's bookmark bar. I vaguely knew this tool was under development but I can't find any documentation about it on the OER Commons site and couldn't get it to work in my browser (Chrome 13.0.782.218 on Mac OS X 10.6.8).
I'd also be interested to know if the OER Bookmarking peeps at Newcastle have had a look at this at all?
Cheers
Lorna
