Hi,
I have several times had to disagree with a fit note. I have explained to the manager. HR officer and then written a letter for the employees to take to the GP explaining why I cannot allow the person to do the job. Every time the doctor has got back to me and backed me up. GP's are not mind readers and they do not know what all jobs entail but are open to suggestions which help them do their job more effectively. We also look at return to work plans when we know someone is due to return to work and alter work to suit.

Hi
I have had several cases where the GP says the employee is fit to work.
He may be fit for work but not necessarily the work he needs to
undertake and that is why OHA needs to assess them. The Business has
the choice to take your advice or that of the GP.
Kind Regards
Tracy

Suspension from work on medical grounds. My dilemma of the day. Can an
Occupational Health Nurse advice medical suspension if a gp signs an
individual fit for work when they are not safe to be at work. This is
an unusual situation and do not want to discuss because of the openness
of the forum.
Would this be a decision the manager makes based on the advice given by
OH, does an oh physician have to make this decision or could it be an
OH nurse.
regards
Lynda
