Sallie,
Following on to what Tim mentioned about magnetite from Sweden,
somewhere I think I have a connection between magnetic ore deposits
in Norway and Leeds but nothing I could put my hands on until I get home.
Forget that I've just reminded myself what the connection was -
The Norwegian Titanic Iron Co Ltd of Leeds opened a mine in 1864 at
Sokndal, near Hauge i Dalane.
That information came from one of the curators at the Kongsberg
Mining Museum - I can provide a contact if required.
