King's College London are looking for a full-time researcher with experience of conducting qualitative research (preferably ethnographic research) in the NHS. This is an exciting opportunity to join a National Institute for Health Research Service Delivery Organization (SDO) funded collaboration between King's College London, Oxford University and two NHS Trusts: Royal Brompton and Harefield NHS Foundation Trust and Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust. The project team also have direct links to Department of Health policy makers and the Thames Valley Health Innovation and Education Cluster (TV HIEC).
The post will be supervised by Annette Boaz at Kings College London, the project PI is Louise Locock at University of Oxford and co-investigators include Glenn Robert (Kings) and Sue Ziebland (Oxford).
This post is concerned with the evaluation of a new, accelerated form of Experience Based Co-Design (which involves patients, carers and staff in co-designing and improving services) focusing on lung cancer services and intensive care units. The ethnographer will use multiple data sources, including observation, interviews, documentary analysis and administrative data. The post will also provide some qualitative research support to the Research Design Service (RDS) London (based within the Division).
Candidates will have a social science degree, experience of process evaluation and an interest in service development and improvement. The closing date for receipt of applications is 22nd September 2011. The shortlisted candidates will be contacted by 27th September. The interviews will be held on 3rd October 2011.
