Ofcom research event: UK children and parents - media use and attitudes
Ofcom is holding a research event on children and parents' media use and attitudes, on Thursday 10 November 2011 from 3 - 5.45 pm, at Ofcom's offices in Riverside House, London SE1. Registration is from 2.30 pm, with the seminar starting at 3 pm. Networking drinks will be available after the event.
The event will highlight findings from our new Children and Parents - Media Use and Attitudes Report, due for publication on 25 October. Our research provides a rich picture of how children use and understand different media, ranging from the internet, TV, radio, mobile phones, to games consoles. We also provide insights into parental views and mediation strategies, particularly related to their child's internet use. As our research began in 2005, we can show trends over time in many areas.
This year's report provides a wealth of information on children's media habits, including new questions on whether or not they have come across inappropriate content on various media. The report also contains additional bespoke research on parents' attitudes towards pre-watershed TV programming.
The event will also hear about research findings in this field from a variety of industry and academic stakeholders. If you are interested in presenting short (5-10 minute) overviews of your research in the area of children and parents' media use and attitudes, please get in touch with Alison Preston ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>).
To register for this event, or for further information, please email Alison Mountain ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>). Places are limited.
