I will be writing an article for the spring issue of LIM (Legal
Information Management) on the effects of outsourcing of our profession.
So far, most of the articles which have been published seem to be
written either by outsourcing services themselves, or by firms which
have decided to outsource often entire services. There is another side
to all this, and I would like to canvass your opinions, experiences,
stories to help with the writing of the article.
I am particularly interested in the law library field, but it does touch
on other areas, so it would be good to hear from anyone who would like
to contribute their say. I assure you that I will keep everything
confidential and not publish your name should I decide on including your
opinion.
I will be interested in whether you have been outsourced, or fear you
may be; if so, how has it affected you; how has it affected your
organisation/firm (good/bad); do you know any colleagues who have been
outsourced and how has it affected them; financial matters - could or
has outsourcing saved money; any problems; partial-outsourcing; legal
concerns and security of information; what factors might be lost if the
service were to be outsourced in its entirety; are you even aware of the
growing trend, etc....
I look forward to hearing from you. If possible, please send your
replies to my home email - [log in to unmask]
Best wishes
Susan Alcock
