Hi Jonathan,

We are experiencing the same problem at Strathclyde.

Only happens when logged in via the Federation and we only see the problem with search, not with browse.

Is anyone else experiencing problems when accessing Science Direct through the UK federation?

This problem does not show up when we access it directly (we have direct access from our campus IP addresses), only when accessed through the federation

We can login fine - a search reports the number of matches, and the facets on the left-hand side are populated, but the results themselves are completely empty

The publishers say they cannot replicate this but we see it consistently with different user accounts, different browsers, different machines and locations, and I cannot see there could be anything at the Leeds end that would explain the service not working properly

Hi Jonathan

Just tried recreating it and had no significant problems, however in Google Chrome the search display results didn't display particularly well - the display overlaps at the top - so it might be rendering issue. If the results are technically being retrieved in number of matches, it's unlikely to be associated with the authentication process.

Let me know if you want a screenshot to demo.

Hi

Are you using IE 9? I know Web of Knowledge doesn't display the search results if you use IE 9 and you need to add the site under Compatibility View Settings. I've not had anyone report it with Science Direct, though I see on their web site that they support IE 7.0 and 8.0 and Firefox 3.0 and 4.0, but don't support beta or test versions of browsers

Hi all,

I'm sure many of you already have, but can I remind everyone in addition to posting on these lists, to report such issues back to the Service Provider (Publishers ) and the Federation help desk ([log in to unmask] ).

I suspect that problems get dealt with a little faster when customers are reporting them to their service provider.

Many thanks

Hello Pete,

Would you mind checking your IdP log and letting me know whether your

IdP is actually receiving the attribute request from the SP? The

tehcnical person at the University of Leeds has just told me that their

IdP is not receiving it, so in their case at least it is definitely a

Shibboleth authentication issue, not a rendering problem.

My current suspicion is that the SP has stale metadata, but I'm not sure

why that should cause problems for Liverpool, because your IdP's

metadata hasn't changed recently. You haven't made any configuration

changes, have you?

Hi Sara,

I work with Pete, and I've just checked our logs, and we're getting Authn requests but no Attribute requests after the AuthN response is sent to the SP.

Our Metadata hasn't changed in months and neither has our configuration, but as far as I can tell we've not had an attribute request from the Science Direct SP in months either from our shib-audit logs.

Thanks,
