We seek a senior academic to lead one of the top earth-science departments in the UK. The successful candidate will have demonstrated strong leadership in research and teaching in the department’s core areas of “Geodynamics & Sedimentary Systems”, “Global Environmental Change” and “Physics & Chemistry of Earth Processes”. The appointment will be made at Professorial level and the appointee will take on the role of Head of Department within 6 months and continue in this role for a minimum of three years.
The successful candidate will be expected to be educated to PhD level or equivalent and have a successful academic track record demonstrated through promotion to at least senior lecturer or equivalent industrial experience. You will be an excellent communicator and have experience of planning and organising activities within a academic or similar context environment, such as through management of a major research grant, leadership of a teaching initiative or role within Higher Education setting or professional body.
