Dear All,
Below is a reminder of the lecture on Monday the
19th of September 2011 at Loughborough
University, organised by the ICE East Midlands Geotechnical Group (EMGG):
Date : Monday 19th September 2011, 6.00 for 6.30pm
Subject : "Advanced Ground Treatment techniques and their Design"
Venue: Room RT037, Sir Frank Gibb Building (Civil
Engineering Building) Loughborough University
(Map shown at the following link : http://www.lboro.ac.uk/about/findus.html ).
Light refreshments will be available from 6.00 pm.
Speaker : Bob Essler, RD Geotech Ltd
Abstract :
Bob will describe the two most important forms of
ground treatment, jet grouting and compensation
grouting and how they should be designed and
integrated into projects from an early stage.
This will be illustrated with some examples of
the use of ground treatment overseas and how they
can be used as part of project design,
demonstrating that confidence in ground treatment
design and performance is justified.
--------------------------------------------------------
Speakers' Biography :
Bob Essler has been working as an independent
consultant since 2002 and during that time has
been involved on numerous major international
projects, advising clients, consultants and
contractors. It is estimated that the ground
treatment market in Europe annually is at least
£400-500 million and because of this is
significantly advanced. This results in a
significant change in the use of ground treatment
overseas from a remedial tool to rectify problems
to a methodology that is part of the original design.
Bob probably advises on ground treatment aspects
of projects with an annual value of £50-100
million worldwide and as a member of the ISSMGE
technical committee TC 211 is tasked with
developing these techniques worldwide and normalising standards and quality.
