Well I have some pretty definite plans following on the conference, It's not the first time I have made these kind of observations. I have the nucleus of a paper from a couple of years back which I never properly completed due to my fire, which however I did present at a probably forgotten seminar a couple of years back. It's something if I can find the time I can refashion into a more coherent and properly referenced finished product. (I had to present from notes at that time) being unable to access my computer.
I have other plans to which it is too early to say anything much about now as I will be quite busy for the next week or too, and need to be careful not to get distracted too much from my core research. However I would say they are quite ambitious and I will certainly be anticipating numerous discussions as to how to make them a reality, depends how much room and flexibility there is in the academic world for a bit of growth and a bit more openness.
I have just made what I consider (from my perspective) to have been a presentation to the most challenging audience I am ever likely to meet concerning criticism of the social model. All of them equipped with the intellectual capacity to make a variety of challenges from other fields but for the most part still only half listening, the other part stopped up by preceoncieved notions of what I am talking about not what I am actually saying.
I am tempted to leave that part of academia in there own self ruminating mire for now and attack that too from a fresh and new angle, it's yet another example of an academic "circus" too ready to decided who they think are the voices worth listening too without realising the exclusion this actually represents or the ability to meet a real challenge.
At least I am not entirely alone in what I am considering, but apart from my time and the threat to the completion of my PhD that this portentially represents (though it could be better and more effective in the end, though only fate knows that) the two major retarding factors in this endeavour are inevitably time and finance. The third and fourth enemies would be compalacencey and lack of response, depending on whether I even have a sensible idea or grasp of the right agencies to involve.
Nonetheless I have a feeling that something is going to move on this though as there are certainly enough competent and disenfranchised commentators who could introduce and enthuse some authenticity into the debates around neurodiversity and alternate conceptions of impairment/difference that need to be out in the open.

Dear Larry
thank you for your feedback on the conference - we will take your points seriously.
Feedback around the conference has highlighted issues and also other more positive practices. We will endeavour to challenge shortcomings for normalcy2012 which is to be held at the University of Chester - date to be confirmed.
Kind regards
dan
