Dear Crit-Geog-Forum,
I have a student doing a dissertation on the backgrounds of undergraduate Geography students in the UK. He is particularly interested in socio-economic background (in part looking at preferences for Human or Physical Geography) but will be looking at other dimensions as well. I think we have a reasonable handle on the data (HESA etc.) and I have directed him to some of the literature on gender, disability and Geography (Karen Nairn etc.). However, I was wondering if anyone was aware of any research that has been published more around socio-economic background, from Geography or any other cognate disciplines? I seem to remember it being debated on here in the past but aren't aware of any published research. I'm happy to share a digest of responses if users think it would be useful.
Many thanks,
Tim
