I hope all is well. This is the first September in ten
years that I am not at Pompeii or Herculaneum.
I agree with you that Rosaceae is likely and I would suggest
Potentilla seeds that were not quite ripe. This gives them the
rather strange coat.

Dear All,
please could you have a look at the attached pictures and come up with some suggestions, if you can? These seeds come from an Iron Age site in Sussex. The second picture is a close up, the scale is 2mm.I have checked them against the Rosaceae family, but I haven't been able to find a close match.
