Full Time : The appointment will be on UCL Grade 6. The salary range
will be £27,907 - £29,435 per annum depending on skills and experience.
The salary is inclusive of London Allowance.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Centre for Paediatric Epidemiology and Biostatistics, headed by
Professor Carol Dezateux, comprises internationally recognised research
groups working in the following areas: infections affecting the mother,
her fetus and child; birth cohort studies (which follow the same
individuals from birth across their life course and across generations);
inherited and congenital disorders; disorders of vision and the eye
affecting children or originating in childhood; childhood growth and
obesity; genetic and development disorders of the fetus and child;
research for policy; mathematical models and statistical methods.
The post is funded by the Health Protection Agency and the Welton
Foundation for 12 months in the first instance. The post is available
immediately.
The post holder will be required to carry out a range of research, IT
and administrative support tasks relevant to the effective running of
the study, including processing incoming reports, dealing with
correspondence, communicating with health professionals and entering
data into an Access database. The successful applicant will also help to
prepare papers, reports and presentations relating to the study, and
will carry out some data analysis, using statistical software (STATA).
Key Requirements
The postholder must have a first degree or equivalent. An interest in
maternal and child health is essential. The successful candidate must
have some experience of data management, familiarity with Access and/or
statistical analysis software, advanced computer/IT skills (Word, Excel,
and PowerPoint) and administrative skills. The postholder must have
knowledge and understanding of data security and confidentiality issues.
