Statistical models for the quantification of forensic fingerprint evidence
To precede the ordinary meeting
“Quantifying the weight of evidence from a forensic fingerprint comparison: a new paradigm” by C. Neumann, I.W. Evett and J. Skerrett
The Pre-Ordinary Meetings are a new venture organised by the new Young Statisticians Section at the Royal Statistical Society. The aim of a Pre-Ordinary Meeting is to make the Read Paper of the Ordinary Meeting that follows more accessible to PhD students, young statisticians and those not familiar with the area discussed in the paper.
Schedule
15:30 – Dr Michael Risinger, Statistical analysis in forensic science.
Dr Risinger will discuss statistical methods in forensic science, and why the paper represents a breakthrough in methodology that promises to solve the problem of weak warrants in regard to fingerprint comparison.
16:00 - Tea and coffee
17:00 - Read Paper
