Hello All

Emboldened by our success in July we are producing a number of After Work
Walks in September - the intention here is to work with an artist, performer
or writer to showcase their work and bringing new audiences to their work.
It's not a traditional led walk in as much as the participants are invited
to become a performance. I am interested in hearing from other walking
artists who want to to get involved. One aim is to develop an urban walking
art festival.

Author Tom Bolton whose "Walkers' Guide to London's Lost Rivers" publishes
this September (Strange Attractor Press), will lead a walk to "Release the
Walbrook" - where the Walbrook flows into the Thames was where the Romans
first settled, and its course marks the eastern boundary of Londonium. This
walk starts at Shoreditch High Street Overground station at 6.15pm on Weds
31 August To Register: http://afterworkwalk5.eventbrite.com/

Next up is a discovery tour on foot "Uncovering Ancient Egypt in London's
streets." starting at the Sir John Betjeman statue at St Pancras station and
ending up at Cleopatra's needle on the Embankment. The walk will take place
from 6.15pm on Weds 7 September  - To Register:

Join garden designer and writer Anne de Verteuil as she takes you "Along the
garden path" on a mesmerising investigation into public, private and
geurilla gardens in the northern tip of the borough of Southwark. The walk
begins at 6.15pm on Weds 14 September - To Register:

"Look Up and Smile" on this intriguing investigation into London's skylines
and the curiosities on the tops of buildings.  It's a chance to be nosy in a
crowd, as participants are encouraged to bring their own binoculars! The
walk begins at St Thomas' Street entrance of London Bridge at 6.15pm on Weds
21 September -  To Register http://afterworkwalk8.eventbrite.com/

Through financial help of the Geologists' Association's Curry Fund and the
support of the London Geodiversity Partnership, English Heritage and the
Public Realm Information Advice Network, Martin Fidler, creator of the
Ruskin Walk will lead two Ruskin Geology Walks: "Camberwell Stones" and
"Clerkenwell Rocks".  Both walks start at 6.15pm for Camberwell Stones on
Thurs 8 September starting from Denmark Hill station Register

To join the Clerkenwell Rocks walk on Thurs 22 September starting from the
courtyard at 70 Cowcross Street, EC1M 6EJ Register:

If you can, please do join us, and if not please spread the word by sharing
these walks with colleagues and friends. Please get in touch if you are
interested in developing a walk with me.

Hope to see you on one or many of them - kind regards, Andrew
