Hi SPM’ers,
I am a beginner of SPM8. I don’t know my understanding about the segment is correct or not. In the former version, to do VBM analysis we can follow steps like “Raw image—normalize---segment---modulation---smooth”. In segment of SPM8, the output data has 3 kinds of outputs for grey matter(native, unmodulated spatially normalized and modulated spatially normalized ). To my understanding, if I don’t use DARTEL. For example, I want compare the grey matter between 2 groups. Can I directly use my raw image to perform the segment procedure and get the “modulated spatially normalized” image for further smooth and analysis? That means there is no need to use my raw image to perform “normalize” procedure ahead. I don’t know whether my understanding is right? Thanks.
Regards
John
