I think one would need to be careful with using postings from prior to
the date of notification, since someone might well have posted things
in the past that they'd rather not be included (in the ways described
in Rebecca's email) but not happen to log on to SEE the announcement
in order to opt-out.
I think it rather depends on the nature of the forum as well, if it's
clearly public to view (even if people have to be members to post)
then that is a different matter to a forum where only the members can
view it.
This is just my opinion, and it's not based on knowledge of any
guidelines, protocols etc.
