I'm sorry to hear that, citizen.
I am almost completely cut off from many things, listening only to Radios
3 and 4 largely, trying to avoid my neighbours, most of whom would vote
for Hitler, and just writing etc
I have a small circle of friends who indulge me
just had lunch with my mate John who spent Monday in an anechoic chamber;
and that was very interesting -- he did things in there, he didn't just go
in and wait to be entertained
and I thought how interesting that was relatively
I just remarked on that to someone and they asked what I was doing.
Nothing much, I said. Writing. Editing a book, though I haven't got a
publisher. Editing a recorded interview for publication
And they said how interesting that all sounded. How they haven't ever
written one poem. I think they meant: so shut up.
I am NOT saying that to you.
I am saying that it's relative.
With most of what's going on,I'm glad to be cut off. I've always wanted to
go to Oslo and am glad I didn't go one day recently. If I'd seen that
island, I'd have been there. I like islands. Cut you off
Never mind about gunmen. I wouldn't want to be there with parties of
hopeful youngsters.
I have always wanted to go to Svalbard. Really. I have always wanted to
go. Svalbard sounds bonkers, if a landscape can be bonkers.
My sympathies are entirely with the polar bear. I like to think he was
trying to demonstrate his concerns about climate change; so that shooting
was less than defensive and more political.
I read in the paper that the dead man was an Etonian.
The paper keeps me in touch in that way.
