A 23-page report by an EERI reconnaissance team on the Societal Dimensions
of the March 11, 2011, Great East Japan (Tohoku) Earthquake and Tsunami is
now available online at

It covers the topics of emergency management, casualties, emergency
shelter and housing, economic impacts, debris management, recovery
clanning, and research questions for each topic.
Reports on the impacts of the Japan earthquake by teams focusing on
geotechnical aspects, buildings, and the tsunami will be posted later in
August and in September. A summary insert, extracting material from each
of these online inserts, will be published in the EERI Newsletter later
this year.

EERI member Shunsuke Otani facilitated EERI's acquisition of a one hour,
unedited video of the tsunami warning and the tsunami itself at Kamaishi
Port. Footage provided courtesy Kamaishi Port Office, Ministry of Land,
Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT). Additional video from
Kamaishi port and Kuji port will be available in the next few weeks.
