Hi Sheila
There is a USAID report 'Exploring Evidence for Disrespect and Abuse in Facility-Based Childbirth' which looks at the opposite to dignity and respect, but may offer some insights. http://www.tractionproject.org/sites/default/files/upload/RFA/Respectful%20Care%20at%20Birth%209-20-101%20Final.pdf There are 2 recently funded studies looking into aspects of this, more details on the USAID website.
My own research into emotions in midwifery work is all very relevant to issues of dignity, respect, empathy and compassion, for both women and midwives.
