Dear all
Among other pieces of research I am updating this Summer there is a very specific - almost irrelevant one can say - topic the political and policy implications of which are nevertheless becoming gradually mainstream: the faked job ads.
I have already collected huge evidences, now I would like to better understand the level of awareness of the issues and its consequences at governance and management level both for the public and the private sectors.
It seems opinion leaders and politicians are understanding that if groups of adults behave like "churches" or gangs without worrying of consequences on human relationships (financial scandals, media phone hacking etc) even on the workplace one can legitimately asks how young people can behave differently or how we can really expect economic growth from social enterprises etc etc.
Basically, what type of social governance we are heading towards.
It's not jus a matter of ethic or religion but civic values in western cultures that are the reasons why we have "cultural heritage" institutions, traditions, bodies of knowledge and "altruistic" visions of educational policies (though many have just started to consider that calling somebody a generous person or altruistic in some cultures is an insult not a compliment we must deal with in a global village, avoiding or preventing stupid mockery and bullying behaviours).
So, in order to further investigate social risks and economic drawbacks of faked recruitment ads through social networks and online communication, I would be very grateful if you could send me comments, questions, references or suggestions on the subject as you have experienced it in the LAM - libraries museums and archives - communities.
I am particularly interested in understanding and assessing also through narratives, critical incidents, employment law litigations etc:
- effects of the faked job ads on trust, cohesion, camaraderie and "gang" attitude within internal communication and particularly through distributed intranets, OPAC shared preferably in large organizations (more than 300 employees);
- examples of alternative ways to achieve the same levels of internal / external engagement and visibility with more sustainable positive and enriching communication formats and initiatives.
For more information and examples of the issue please see pages from my CPD wiki and my blog post " The new brave classifieds: send us your job application and we spare money on our advertising budget" at
