Dear all,
I'd like to hear from library staff within an HE environment who use generic logins at their circulation desks.
We've been informed that generic logins are no longer (if they ever were) acceptable for auditing reasons and we're trying to come up with a solution to this. Given that our staff on the desk swap every hour, it would severely interrupt the level of service if each member of staff had to log in and out.
Has anyone found a way around the issue of auditing (and accountability) with regards to using generic logins? Does anyone have any other system in place which gets around this problem.
I would imagine this has come up in many libraries so any other tips or advice would be welcome.
Many thanks,
Rosalind
