Dear Barbara and other mailing list subscribers,

I wanted to personally apologise for the previous email from the Science Direct helpdesk regarding the issues described recently.

My name is Peter Darroch and I am the Product Sales Manager for Databases at Elsevier. I subscribe to the LIS-E-RESOURCES mailing list as I have a personal and professional interest in the discussions etc. I noticed the comment regarding problems with Scopus and Science Direct and as I was concerned by these problems, I asked the helpdesk to investigate so that we could ensure any issues could be addressed promptly.

The helpdesk have unfortunately, misunderstood the request and replied to the mailing list and so I wanted to apologise for this and let you know that I have informed the helpdesk of the error. If there are any further issues regarding the products, the helpdesk can indeed be contacted as can I at the details below.

Once again, I apologise for the previous email and I hope the problems have been rectified but if I can be of further help, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Best wishes and thank you in advance for your understanding.

Peter

Dear Barbara Houston

Thank you for writing to Scopus. I'm sorry to learn that you had difficulties Scopus and Science Direct search. In our system there's nothing indicating any errors with the search results.

The only reason I could think of why they behaving differently could be browser related problem.

Your settings might need to be reviewed a specialist.

Have you tried searching using another browser instead eg Firefox or Chrome?

Since I am not able to provide you with any advice regaridng this issue, it is best that you consult your IT specialist first and ask them to check if the borwser Java Script needs to be updated.

In the meantime I appreciate if you can provide me with a screenshot of the problem you encounter using both IE or other browser to support your query. I will then esaclate the issue to our Second Line technical support for further investiagtion.

I hope to have fully informed you of the process required. If I can assist with any other matter please do let me know.

Kind Regards

Dear Colleagues,

Please see below a thread from a discussion board today regarding some access issues with regards to Scopus and Science Direct. Could you please look into the issue and see if it can be rectified if it still exists.

Thanks in advance

Peter

Hi,

We are experiencing a problem with both Scopus and Science Direct,

although particularly Scopus, and I wondered if anyone else was having

the same issue.

We can do a search (it's complexity doesn't seem to matter) bring up the

list of results then start working through ticking boxes to select

articles. After a couple of pages of doing this the page freezes, goes

blank, then there's a message that there has been an error and IR is

recovering the page. The page reappears but without all the selected

articles then IE does this all over again.

We've subscribed to both databases for several years now without problem

so why this is happening now is a bit of a mystery.
