Hello everyone,
There are a number of online journal packages available to subscribe to out
there via NELSI2 etc. Most famously Wiley, ScienceDirect, T&F and so on.
Cancellation allowances within these deals are usually very, very low if at
all present. I've gone through some of the license documentation and
agreement terms and conditions for these "big deals" and would like your
views on cancelling beyond the cancellation allowances. What happens if a
library cancels far above the permitted percentage of e.g. 2% from a
particular publisher? Can it be done and still take, for instance,
ScienceDirect Freedom Collection or Wiley Online Library? Or is it simply
"you cannot cancel beyond the allowed percentage and keep taking the big
deal"? I was under the possibly erroneous assumption that major
cancellations beyond the permitted ones would simply result in a higher fee
for the package.
Thanks
Satu
