Around where the A538 road from Altrincham to Wilmslow crosses the Bollin river on the southeast edge of Manchester Airport there are these placenames, some obliterated by building the airport's Runway 2: Oversleyford Bridge, Oversleyford Farm, Oversley Farm, (and Oversleyford Brickworks). (Sometimes spelled Oversley Ford.) Any idea what the name came from? If it is "bank - lea - ford", where did the -s- come from?
See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Cheshire#Oversley_Farm for the Oversley Farm prehistoric longhouse find.
