Just for starters, and please note I have no personal or financial interest in any of the following, and nor should the list be seen as exclusive:
Training providers (both offer the DPA ISEB):

Subject: [data-protection] Data Protection advice
Good afternoon
We have recently formed a new central (3 person) team in the Northern Ireland Civil Service (NICS) to look after Data Protection, we are starting from a low base of data protection knowledge, so are looking for advice and guidance on how to learn and what we should be doing.
We have had a meeting with the ICO and they will be coming back to us with some thoughts. We have also had discussions with Departmental Information Managers, who have given us a wish list of what they want us to do.
Obviously we have to manage their expectations, as we are a lot less experienced and knowledgeable in DP issues than them.
Do you know of any particularly good training courses, websites, journals that we should be going on or accessing to quickly help us get to grips with this legislation?
We have also written a draft Information Management strategy and are expecting it to be published in October, it's currently out with colleagues at the minute, so come Octber we will also be tasked with driving forward recomendations of that document and also recomendations from a recent Gateway 5 of the project that introduced an EDRM system several years ago.
Its also very possible that on top of these tasks we will become the central team for FOI/EIR as well as DP, but that is still to be confirmed and decided.
I'd be grateful for any guidance, a starting point, as starting always seems most difficult, especially when there appears to be so much information out there.
I'd especially be interested to hear from anyone who set up a central DP team within their organisation.
I know our structure in the NICS will most likely differ a lot from most other organisations, and the problems will be different, but any advice will be useful.
Thanks
Stephen
