here is what seems to me quite a well-put-together online magazine of visual
poetry edited by Mara Patricia Hernandez and John Moore Williams.
the issuu.com 'platform' is quite interesting also. very simulated-printy,
but very online also. i like the slider up top to size it, for instance. and
the sidebar on the right where there are related 'magazines'. and the
thumbnails at the bottom to better navigate the current magazine. and if you
click the page, it zooms in. and then if you move the mouse around, the mag
moves around a bit for better viewing. the issuu.com presentation of
magazine-like printed matter on a screen is thoughtful, isn't it?
very curious indeed. it's right up there with the experience of a paper
magazine, isn't it?
and you can see how the particular type of material in bleed is well-suited
to this sort of presentation. it's quite readable, really. keeping in mind
that simply getting to readable, on a computer screen, is something of a
challenge. email and more personal text is a bit different, though. we read
email from friends and associates regardless of how it looks, will even
squint at it on a phone screen. but when we're looking at art and poetry
online, we're a bit more demanding. or so it seems to me.
