Archives and Records Council Wales (ARCW) is the representative body for
publicly-funded archive services in Wales and for institutions involved
with the administration of archives. ARCW is seeking to appoint
consultants to work with its members to develop and produce the RoundTwo
HLF application and required accompanying documents for the ARCW
'Cynefin' project. This project can be summarised as the digitisation,
geo-coding and web-mounting of the tithe maps of Wales as one seamless
online map, with associated community and volunteer sub-projects
focussing on the sense of place and identity (‘cynefin’) that the maps
evoke. It aims to address barriers to accessing the archival heritage
through an innovative mix of the virtual and physical. By digitising
the tithe maps and presenting these online with associated guidance and
interpretation materials, geographical and physical restrictions on
access will be addressed, helping a greater number and wider range of
people to learn about their heritage through these resources. It is
envisaged that the Stage Two application will be ready for submission by
30 November 2012. Further details of the 'Cynefin' project is included
in the Invitation To Tender which can be obtained form [log in to unmask]
