Dear All

 

Please find below an opportunity which may be of interest to some of you – I
appreciate it is not directly a statistical position, however, I thought it
was still relevant enough to send to this mailing list.

 

Department
The Emerging Risk Solutions (ERS) team  is currently addressing
opportunities in modelling mortality risk for financial services sectors
relating to life and health insurance and pension risks. The team is
responsible for:

*	Models that quantify excess mortality risk including: 
*	Infectious Disease Model (influenza pandemic and emerging infectious
diseases) 
*	Terrorism Risk Model 
*	Other mass casualty perils, 
*	Longevity Risk Model 
*	medical-based mortality risk modelling 
*	Other models of hedging, financial structures and base mortality
risk 

Our life & health risk modelling team consists of medical-based specialists,
mathematicians, epidemiologists, statisticians and other areas of
bio-science expertise, working with product development teams including
software architects, engineers and designers, and with market development
personnel who liaise with clients to ensure the commercial value of models
being developed. The team is based in California, New Jersey and London,
with software development in India.
 
Objective of the Senior Technical Publications Editor
Help launch and promote the life and health risk models, and create the
communication materials for potential users and clients, including managing
the production of marketing collateral and model documentation.
 
Key Accountabilities & Deliverables:

*	Understand the models and analytical processes in sufficient depth
to communicate their inner workings externally to the client base,
regulators and potential users. 
*	Take responsibility for the technical editing and compilation of
documentation on the various models used for mortality risk. This involves
refining draft technical content created by the modelling team, adding
content and interpretation where necessary, and finalizing the production of
the documentation suite. 
*	Assist with the production of technical marketing and communication
materials, including reports, white papers and other external scientific
publications, articles for the press, brochures and other written content. 
*	Assist with the development on online help materials included life &
health risk model software products. 
*	Manage the content on the life & health section of the web site and
assist with upgrading the user experience provided. 
*	Assist with the technical marketing of the solution to the client
base including building a communication strategy, go-to-market collateral
and arranging seminars and showcase events. 
*	Assist with quality control on the reports produced as output from
consulting engagements to ensure a high degree of client satisfaction from
the quality of deliverables. 

Experience Required:

*	Must have a good Degree from a leading institution. 
*	Research experience in scientific, mathematical, actuarial or
statistical analysis, or in the areas of biological or quantitative social
sciences (human biology, genetics, public health, epidemiology, demography).

*	Experience of technical editing or product marketing would be a
distinct advantage. 
*	Must have excellent communication skills including strong technical
writing and presentation skills and the ability to communicate with
non-technical audiences. 
*	Able to work independently, contribute to a team, and has a strong
sense of initiative and attention to detail. 
*	A high proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Access is
required, with a capability to display quantitative information clearly and
attractively.
