Subject: Information Revolution - summary of responses published
Information Revolution summary of responses published
A summary of the responses received from the public consultation Liberating the NHS: An Information Revolution has been published by the Department of Health (DH).
742 formal responses were received during the consultation period which ran from 18 October 2010 until 14 January 2011. The summary of responses published today will be used, alongside feedback from the NHS Future Forum, by the Informatics Directorate and colleagues across DH to form the Information Strategy, which is planned for publication in winter 2011.
The summary has established key themes that have emerged from the responses, including:
* Ensuring that the information revolution benefits everyone
* Information for improved outcomes
* The need for information to be linked across health, social care and also public health
* Information for professionals
* People's control of and access to information held in their own care records
* The need for clear routes (or 'channels') to information
* Information for autonomy, accountability and democratic legitimacy
* The need for clear information standards across health, public health and social care
