The Royal Statistical Society's History of Statistics Study Group will be marking the 100th anniversary of the death of the Victorian polymath Francis Galton (1822-1911) with a two-day conference in September.
The event, supported by the British Society for the History of Mathematics and the British Society for the History of Science, will take place at the Society on Tuesday 6 and Wednesday 7 September.
The first day will focus on Galton's Statistical Ideas and Innovations and will include talks from John Aldrich, Tim Cole, A W F Edwards and Warren Gilchrist. In the evening there will be a commemoration of Galton at the Petrie Museum at University College London.
The second day of the conference will look at Galton's Biological Ideas and Innovations with presenters including Natasha McEnroe, Edward Higgs and Eileen Magnello.
