Whoops!
No, not "non-royal _insect_ relationships"... *incest* relationships...
Insect relationships and royalty and non-royalty are reminding me of
bees....

slavic folklore"
Which reminds me... one of the old arguments for the alleged incest between
Pharaonic brother (king) and sister (queen) was that it must have stemmed
from a matrilineal origin for the 'authority' of kingship. Like it 'had to'
go through a related female because they were the 'keepers' of the
'authority' of kingship... But I believe that idea is now discredited. (or
currently not in favour, which means it could come back at any minute!) I
think too that people are even questioning the level of royal incest, like
how much it really happened.... but then again I've heard recently of
non-royal insect relationships in Egypt, I think from the workers villages
at Deir El Medina, but I don't really know much about them really.
